Changes

• AGS is only compatible with Windows 8 and later. It is recommended to run it on Windows 10 or Windows 11, as Microsoft has ended support for all older versions of Windows.
• New licensing system: one license is valid for all sub-versions (e.g. 2.7.2) of the licensed main version (e.g. 2.7) and for its predecessors (e.g. 2.6).
• PDF files are now created in the document viewer using the Microsoft Print to PDF printer, so that previews of diagrams can also be saved as PDF files.
• The loading mechanism for the AGS framework application and the start screen were completely redesigned.
• The background processing for the news center has been redesigned.
• The dialog boxes are now based on modern Windows dialog components.
• All dialogs for opening or saving files have been converted to the modern Windows dialogs, which also display the folder structure (#418).

New features in AGS 2.0

Extensions

• For AGS 2, the entire program code of approximately 375,000 lines was completely revised and modernized to further the migration of Omega to the Windows platform and the support of modern database technologies.
• AGS 2 integrates the same version of Omega into DOSBox as AGS 1.8.11, using Omega 5.593.
• The print spooler has been replaced by the document manager . This manager handles all reports generated by Omega in file format. Reports can be previewed on the screen, saved as a PDF, sent to the printer, opened with a word processor, emailed, renamed, or deleted. It is also possible to store your own files in the document manager, for example, to quickly access supplementary literature.
• It is possible to register yourself on a new portal and download the latest version of AGS with Omega from there. The portal is integrated into AGS as a news hub . Here you receive news and can conveniently download and install the latest version of AGS with Omega via the online update.
• The new system report provides clear access to the system information generated at runtime and allows it to be sent via email in order to efficiently obtain support from the program author.
• The editor has been extensively revised and expanded and can now handle various character sets. Among other things, it allows files to be converted between the DOS, Windows, and Unicode character sets.
