The search field below the list of places allows you to quickly find a place by entering the first letters and pressing the Enter key.

You can edit location information by double-clicking the location with the left mouse button or by selecting "Map Viewer" from the location's context menu . The map viewer will then appear, the same one you see when you enter details for a new location in an input field on the map .

All fields except the place name are optional. Any entry of up to three digits is accepted for state and territory . A location can be pinpointed using the up to six-digit postal code ( ZIP code ). The current municipality of the place can be specified under "Current Municipality".

Additionally, in the Document tab of the map viewer, the user can enter extra text information of any length. Possible applications include location descriptions, references to research documents, local history (former territorial affiliations), and similar information.
