In case of a defect, this information can help you to save what can still be saved.
When the following refers to instructions, it means the program help, which you can access in AGS 2 by pressing the F1 key, or which you can find on the website .
When it comes to the storage of AGS 2, three areas must be distinguished.
The following operations require that you have or can obtain local administrator rights on your PC.
In a standard Windows 10 installation, the program files are located in the folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\AGS 2\ . If the program files are missing or corrupted, you can reinstall the program using the ags-2.xy-setup.exe installer.
If you didn't accept the default installation location but deliberately chose a different folder or drive, the program files will be located there. This is usually detected during an update or uninstallation.
You cannot install an older version over a newer one. If you want to revert to an older version, you must first uninstall the newer version via the corresponding entry in the Windows Start menu or through the Windows system settings under Programs/Apps. If this option is also unavailable due to a problem with the Start menu or the Windows operating system, you can also run the program C:\Program Files (x86)\AGS 2\unins000.exe to uninstall AGS 2.
During uninstallation, and often also during installation, files in C:\Program Files (x86)\AGS 2\ that are no longer needed are deleted. Therefore, never save your own files in this directory. However, you usually won't do this, and AGS does nothing to encourage you to.
If any remnants remain in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\AGS 2\ after uninstallation, you can delete them manually in Windows Explorer.
You can also save your files in any other location.
If the files are gone, you should restore them from a backup.
Backups must be created regularly from within AGS, following the instructions. You should always store backups on a storage device that is not connected to the PC running AGS 2. Otherwise, if your PC is damaged, both the originals and the backups could be lost at once.
If you can no longer find any backups, you can search your hard drive for the Omega5 folder or for the identifier you assigned when creating the patient file (e.g., FAMIFO ). You can also search for DATABASE.500 , the central file of the patient file. The parent folder of the folder containing this file is the data source that you must connect to according to the instructions in order to regain access to your patient files.
By default, the license file and settings are located in the folder C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Roaming\bnuv in Windows 10, where Your_Username is the username you use to log in to Windows.
The settings also include the header texts for reports and notes.
These settings are user-specific. If multiple users share a PC, each has their own license file and their own settings.
These files are retained when AGS 2 is updated or uninstalled. Only settings that are no longer present in the newly installed version, regardless of whether it is a newer or older version, are not transferred.
To save your settings, please use the "Save settings" function from the AGS main menu.
If you upload files yourself, such as reports generated from Omega or logs of imports or tests, these will be registered in the document manager. The document manager only contains links; it does not store the files themselves. Save the files in a location that you can easily find and create your own backups in case you need to recover them safely in the event of a PC failure.
